For EU wineries

Selling into the UK, from the continent.

A UK-built commerce platform for European wineries selling direct to UK customers. Bonded stock, sterling pricing and UK data handling, without moving your business across the Channel.

What selling into the UK involves

The wine is the easy part. These are the three things a European producer runs into, and where a generic retail platform leaves you to work it out yourself.

Bonded stock and duty

Holding stock under bond in the UK keeps duty and VAT off the table until a bottle actually sells. That only helps if your platform can release from bond and fulfil against it.

Sterling and UK tax

UK customers expect to pay in pounds, and tax needs working out by where the order is going, not where you are based.

UK customer data

Selling direct means holding UK and EU customer data, which means GDPR, EU-based storage and clear answers on where it lives and how it is handled.

London City Bond, connected

London City Bond is one of the bonded warehouses UK wine sellers commonly use. Marzipan integrates with it, so if you hold stock there, it can work alongside your shop rather than in a spreadsheet on the side.

Release on order

An order triggers a release request against your bonded stock, so fulfilment starts without a separate email or spreadsheet.

Duty at the right point

Duty and VAT are handled when stock leaves bond, rather than tying up cash on wine that has not sold yet.

Stock that stays in step

What you can sell reflects what is actually in bond, so you are not selling bottles that have already gone.

There is a full write-up of how the London City Bond integration works, including what it does and does not cover.

Data handled properly

Selling direct into the UK and EU means holding customer data, so this part is built in rather than left to you.

EU-based storage

Customer data is held on EU-based servers, which keeps the answer simple when a customer or a partner asks where it lives.

GDPR-native

Consent, access and deletion are part of how the platform works, not a plugin bolted on to pass an audit.

A published DPA

Our Data Processing Addendum is published in full, so procurement and compliance have the paperwork they expect without a back-and-forth.

You can read our privacy policy and the Data Processing Addendum in full before you talk to us.

Frequently asked questions

Don't just take our word for it

“We made the switch from WooCommerce to a custom solution powered by Marzipan. Managing our orders is a breeze and the flexibility of the subscriptions API has allowed us to enhance our old vine adoptions offering.”

“Marzipan is incredibly easy to use, and extremely flexible and configurable. It makes recurring subscription wine clubs much easier than any other system I have used, and copes with pretty much everything we have thrown at it.”
