Connect your Mailchimp account and Marzipan keeps your audiences in step with your customer list. New customers are added, changes are pushed across, and the tags you use to segment people in Marzipan land in Mailchimp too. You are not exporting a CSV before every campaign.
About Mailchimp
Mailchimp is an email marketing platform, and for a lot of wineries it is where the mailing list has always lived. Newsletters, allocation announcements, offers on a new release, all of it built and sent from there.
The problem is that the list drifts. Someone buys through the shop and never makes it into the audience. A club member cancels and keeps receiving the club email. Someone changes their email address in their account and Mailchimp carries on writing to the old one. Every campaign starts with a tidy-up nobody enjoys.
What the integration does
Customers sync automatically. Create or update a customer in Marzipan and they are synced to your chosen Mailchimp audience. There is also a manual full sync if you want to push everyone across at once, which is usually the first thing you do after connecting.
Tags travel both ways. The tags you use to segment customers in Marzipan are synced to Mailchimp tags, and changes made in Mailchimp come back through webhooks. Segments you build in one place mean something in the other.
Your own field mapping. Decide which Marzipan customer fields fill which Mailchimp merge fields, so your templates have the data they expect rather than whatever happens to be in the default columns.
A separate audience for club members. Subscriptions can sync to their own audience with their own field mapping and its own tag sync, so club communications and general marketing stay apart.
Unsubscribes are respected. Someone unsubscribing is handled properly rather than being quietly re-added by the next sync, and an email address changed in Marzipan updates the existing Mailchimp member instead of creating a duplicate.
Setting it up
Connect by signing in with Mailchimp from the integrations screen. Pick the audience you want customers to sync to, map any merge fields you use, and decide whether to sync tags and whether club members go to a separate audience. Then run the one-off full sync and everything after that keeps itself current.
If you are on an older Marzipan account still using a Mailchimp API key, there is an upgrade to the newer sign-in method on the same screen. Get in touch if you would like a hand.
