Hosting that knows what it is serving
Most commerce platforms give you hosting you cannot leave, tied to a theme system you did not choose. Most hosts give you somewhere to put files and no idea what a cart is.
Marzipan Cloud is the middle: you build the front end however you like, we deliver it from a European CDN with edge locations worldwide, and the commerce behind it runs on the same EU infrastructure as your products, orders and subscriptions.
The commerce itself runs client-side through our web components, so the pages can be static and the cart is still live. The four ways to build sets out where hosting fits among them.
How it works
Four steps, and you only ever do the second one.
Part of your plan, not another bill
Hosting is included with every plan. The allowances rise with your revenue band, on the sensible assumption that a bigger business gets more traffic, so there is one number to think about rather than two.
There is no charge per visitor, no charge per build and no cut of your sales. The limits are set high enough that most sites will never come near them, and if yours does we will tell you before it costs you anything.
What it is not
It is not a website builder. There is no theme editor, no page builder, no template library and no drag-and-drop canvas, and we are not planning to add them.
That does not mean your content ends up in the codebase. Marzipan has a CMS, and it powers the site: pages, blog posts, images and product content are written and managed here, then pulled into whatever you have built through the same API as everything else. Whoever writes the copy does not need the developer, and the developer does not need to touch the copy.
What we leave alone is how it all looks. If you want a tool that designs the site for you, there are good ones and we are not one of them. What we do instead is stay out of the way of whoever is building it, and be somewhere sensible to put the result.
