Some customers will not enter a card number on a site they have not bought from before, and would rather pay with an account they already trust. Connect PayPal and it sits alongside card payments at your checkout, with the resulting orders and refunds handled in Marzipan like any other.

About PayPal

PayPal needs little introduction. What matters here is who uses it: for a good number of wine buyers, particularly those ordering from a producer they have found rather than one they know, it is the payment method that makes them finish the order rather than abandon it.

It works best as an option next to cards rather than instead of them. Offering both costs you nothing and removes a reason for someone to leave the checkout.

What the integration does

PayPal at checkout. Customers can pay with PayPal from your Marzipan shop, and the order lands in Marzipan the same way a card order does.

Refunds from Marzipan. Refund a PayPal order from the order screen and it is processed through PayPal, so you are not reconciling two systems by hand afterwards.

One order history. However someone paid, the order, the customer record and the reporting all live in the same place, with the payment method recorded against the order.

Worth knowing

Recurring wine club billing runs through Stripe rather than PayPal, because it depends on a saved card that can be charged when a shipment cycle runs. PayPal is for one-off purchases, so most wineries offer both and let customers choose.

Setting it up

Connect your own PayPal business account from the payments settings and it appears at checkout. Money goes to you directly and Marzipan takes no cut. Get in touch if you would like a hand.
